Classes

Early Childhood is a time for a happy and carefree day with ample time to play, learn and grow. The programs at Peace Lutheran Preschool are designed to provide mental, physical, spiritual, and social experiences at the developmental level of the preschool child.

Activities are Christ-centered, showing God’s love and guidance in all areas of living. The programs are flexible and varied, with provisions for experimentation and creative activities. Teachers plan for the needs and abilities of each individual child in their classroom.

Peace Lutheran Preschool’s sessions generally follow Faribault School District’s Calendar.

Curriculum

Our preschool curriculum is aligned with the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress to prepare students for success in kindergarten and beyond. Peace Preschool uses Frog Street in our toddler and young 3’s class. In our pre-k classrooms we use FrogStreet 3’s and Frogstreet 4’s as a full developmental curriculum to meet state standards in math, literacy and language, social studies, and science. Conscious Discipline and Second Step is our social-emotional curriculum designed to aide in the development of social skills and teach students about self and emotional awareness. Our TK program uses it’s own reading curriculum developed by a local curriculum specialist and an additional math and social studies curriculums.

Our school is a Conscious Discipline school family where our teachers and students learn and work on self-regulation in order to be ready to learn! We believe first and foremost we must build connection and safety with the students so that we can get them ready to learn!

Religion

Bible stories stress that God loves us and center on Jesus as our Savior. We use songs, prayers, CDs, and puppet shows to help with our learning. Our teachers use Concordia Publishing House curriculum in addition to supplemental learning materials. This year our theme will be Armor of God.

Teachers are regularly assessing students to make sure they are on track with Minnesota Early Childhood indicators. If a student is not on track, parents and students will be referred to Help Me Grow Minnesota.
